PLAINVILLE — The Select Board adopted a minimum residential factor of .8437 for fiscal 2027 during the tax classification hearing. The vote followed the Board of Assessors' recommendation and passed by voice vote. A presenter said the town saw $22 million in new growth, which raised the levy limit by $351,774, and that the maximum levy is about $34 million.
Under the recommended option, which keeps the shift unchanged, the residential rate would rise from $11.29 to $11.32 and the average single-family bill would climb about $205, or 2.95 percent. A single rate for all classes would be $13.42 and would add more than $1,000 to the average bill. One member said they wanted to "keep some room if we have to make a bigger shift."
