Plainville Town Meeting Passes $45.7 Million Fiscal 2027 Budget by Majority
PLAINVILLE — May 21, 2026 — Plainville Town Meeting approved a $45,759,691 fiscal year 2027 operating budget on May 21, passing by majority with three votes in opposition. The Finance Committee chair, presenting from the floor, described the cycle as "one of the more challenging budget cycles the town has faced in recent years," driven by double-digit increases in health care benefit costs. The budget draws its largest share — $33,971,734 — from taxation, and relies on a combined $3,112,802 in stabilization and special revenue fund transfers, including $2,148,538 from the Gaming Stabilization Fund and $839,264 from the Bridge Stabilization Fund, to close the gap. The chair explicitly rejected comparisons to a difficult prior cycle, saying, "This is not a rerun of 2021."
