Plainville Select Board votes to eliminate vote by mail

Plainville Select Board opts out of vote by mail for April election. The board voted unanimously January 28 after a public hearing to eliminate no-excuse vote by mail for the April 6, 2026 annual town election, citing labor and cost concerns outlined by Town Clerk Cyndi Bush, who noted vote by mail is labor intensive and costs over one dollar per ballot to distribute. Absentee ballots will remain available.
In separate unanimous votes, the board also approved a change order of $84,103.16 to upgrade the programmable logic controller system at the new water treatment plant, authorized several event permits and business licenses, and opened the Annual Town Meeting Warrant with article submissions closing February 23 at noon.
