Plainville approves summer events; FY27 budget planning begins

Plainville approves summer events with $1.9 million in FY27 free cash certified. Finance Director Julie Hebert reported the town received $1,933,673 in General Fund free cash, plus additional certifications for enterprise funds totaling $3.1 million. The Select Board unanimously approved event permits for the For Kids Foundation 5K and Celebration of Life to Crush Cancer, the Hometown Picnic, and the Summer Concert Series.
Town Administrator Brian Noble said departments are being asked to reduce spending with no immediate hiring freeze anticipated. A citizens petition was received to name the Senior Center after former town administrator Joe Fernandes; the applicant was asked to gather 25 voter signatures for a future vote.
